Morning Option Trade Alert: Investor sells put spread in the Internet retailer, bull call spread crosses in Sunpower
At 10:11 a.m. EST, an investor expressed moderate bullishness and sold the April 85-95 put spread in Amazon Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) nearly 5,000 times. The April 95 puts crossed at the bid price of $1.21 per contract, while the 85-strike puts traded for 56 cents (closer to the ask price), indicating investors likely sold the spreads. Investors collected around 65 cents per spread, and will make the maximum profit (the premium collected) if AMZN shares close higher than $95 at April options expiration. Additionally, the puts are currently unchanged on the day, and AMZN shares have dropped $1.21, or roughly 1% to $116.41 without any news from the company this morning.
Shortly after 10 a.m. EST, an investor bought 5,000 Sunpower Corp. (NASDAQ: SPWRA) March 21-24 call spreads for a net debit of 95 cents per spread. In this moderately bullish play, investors will make a maximum profit of $2.05 per spread if SPWRA shares close higher than $24 at March options expiration in roughly 30 trading days. SPWRA did not announce any news this morning, and the market expects the company’s earnings report around Feb. 25. SPWRA shares are currently trading up 16 cents to $20.43.
